The City of Fredericksburg is holding its first ever Food Truck Festival on Saturday, June 18 hosted by VA StrEats, at the Fredericksburg Fairgrounds. Eat your way through more than 20 of the metropolitan Area’s best mobile restaurants. Tour a vendors market and enjoy live entertainment.
VA StrEats Food truck festival, which was conceived in a cupcake truck owned by Jacque Pitts, director Open Air Faith Festival, a faith-based non-profit organization. It started as a mutually beneficial endeavor by building a festival for her ministry and her fellow Food Truck owners. “No one ever knew about us except for on the military bases,” Pitts says. “Now there is a new wave of interest in food trucks and I wanted to ride that wave.”
The reception was exceptional. The first event in May of 2015, VA StrEats Festival had 26,000 people. Thus, it began, they mounted tree more events last year and made the decision to focus on Virginia. “Fredericksburg is the Furthest South we have gone,” Pitts says. “This is Fredericksburg’s first event and if we get a good turnout, we hope to mount events annually or biannually.”

No Kid Hungry vows to end childhood hunger in America by connecting kids in need with food and educating their families in how to cook healthily and affordably.
Donations come from the purchase of advance tickets. “The event is open and is free. People always ask why should I pay?” Pitts says. “What they don’t realize is there are parking benefits, as well as shorter lines.” Plus, it all goes to a greater cause. VAStrEats Fest VIP Hour Ticket may be purchased for $10.00, and includes food festival entry from 11a to 12p on Saturday 18th of June one beverage from the concession stand. Entry is FREE from 12p – 7p but there is a $5 parking fee charged by the Fair Grounds.
